The COVID-19 restrictions significantly changed how people moved through and interacted with the built environment.
For those in the hospitality industry, business owners had to adapt quickly to protect their livelihoods and ensure the safety of both staff and customers. At Loafer Bread, we had only just completed their new fit-out when the pandemic hit.
In response to the uncertainty and growing concerns about health and safety, owner Andrea approached us to find a solution that would allow the business to continue operating safely. Working quickly, we designed a timber and perspex screen that could be constructed within a week by a local handyman.
Using readily available materials—such as hardwood studs, perspex, and plywood panels—we developed a simple, effective solution that met both functional and aesthetic needs.
Most importantly, Loafer was able to continue trading, reassured that they had taken all reasonable steps to protect their staff and customers while serving bread, pastries, and coffee during an incredibly challenging time.
