DiMase Architects is a partnership between two professionally trained individuals: Antony DiMase and Niea Nadya.

After over 10 years of working together, Niea and Antony have developed an efficient and responsive workflow that consistently delivers outstanding results. Our methodology has evolved, allowing us to anticipate key questions at each project stage to address all essential elements.

Our combined expertise, clear roles and commitment to quality drive our practice and ensure you will achieve a successful outcome on your project.

Antony DiMase, Practice Director

Antony Dimase

Antony founded his practice in 2002.

For over 20 years, he has advocated for design work that creates spaces that last our clients decades — spaces that do not bow to current fashions and fads, and that minimise environmental footprints both during construction and in use.

Continues

Antony’s ethos is the pursuit of sustainable, minimal design that puts the client experience at the centre of the project. This ethos permeates all the work we do.

Antony has completed a Bachelor of Architecture, a Masters in Lighting and a course in the Passive House concept. He combines these three central themes into his designs – high quality, enduring spaces that minimise energy use and are aesthetically pleasing.

Antony is a Fellow of Royal Australian Institute of Architects (FRAIA) and as such advocates for excellent design, sustainability and accountability in the field.

Originally from Mildura, Antony was raised by southern Italian immigrant parents. His passion for architecture began in the 1980s at the University of Melbourne’s University’s Architecture school. He subsequently spent several years working across various practices before founding his firm to serve clients who share his vision of making architecture both accessible and relevant.

With extensive personal and professional experience, Antony brings a deep understanding of the design process to his work. His intuitive grasp of potential issues allows him to guide projects towards optimal outcomes with minimal resistance.

Antony’s personal mantra, ‘Do Less Better’, reflects his commitment to delivering beautifully executed projects, regardless of scale or budget.

Niea Nadya, Project Leader

Niea Nadya

Niea’s speciality is providing highly detailed design documentation, visualisation and architectural drawings.

She excels in documenting and designing projects with exceptional skill and efficiency.

Continues

Niea Nadya has been drawing for as long as she can remember. After her mother recognised that she had a talent for illustration, she started describing dress ideas to her daughter, who would make drawings of them. Niea’s mother would then take Niea’s these pictures to the tailor to have the designs realised.

Niea’s decision to pursue architecture rather than fashion started with seeing a soap opera on television. One of the characters was portrayed working by hand on a large drawing board, and that immediately appealed to Niea. Before long she was at a board herself, while studying architecture at university in Malang.

Niea moved to Australia in 2006 in order to pursue a Masters in Multimedia Design at Swinburne University. She had recognised that 3D renditions of two-dimensional designs was the future, and she wanted to get in at the ground floor. She joined DiMase architects in 2008, soon after completing that study.

Today, Niea uses her expertise in building information modelling (BIM) and Vectorworks software to create detailed 3D visualisations for our projects.

Niea also has an innate skill with technical software and over a decade of industry experience in meeting Australian architectural standards. Her skills are absolutely vital to the translation of sometimes grand design ideas into documentation drawings and visualisations that are accurate to use on site for builders.

Our vibe

While we consider all the relevant details, co-ordinate consultants and fuss over all sorts of issues as they arise – it is always the feeling of cohesion, connection and flow that is most apparent in our completed projects.

We do not lose sight of what’s important.

Our team recognise that a successful project is not a series of intricate details or design features but rather it is the space and volumes that we create that connect people their surroundings. The work that goes into creating functional spaces leads to intuitive and seamless movement. This means that the things that are special to you – be it a vase, painting or piece of furniture piece – have their place. You are centre stage in an architectural backdrop.

Seeing architecture projects being realised is special, potentially life changing and life affirming. It’s about legacy, contribution and making a difference by making our built environment responsive to the challenges of our times. By working together, every project can be a step in the right direction.

Recycle

Keeping it simple

Sprezzatura in Italian; Gezellig in Dutch; Mindfulness in English.

These concepts come from Antony’s interest in philosophy, daylight design and a love of nature.

At its best, architecture is the elegance of well-designed spaces that put you in touch with the environment while celebrating your own personal routines and unique place in the world.

Your project is not our billboard. Think of rooms and spaces with connection to nature. Think of spaces to rest where the colours, textures and tones are restorative and playful. Think of spaces that feel intuitive and support movement.

Discovery

Know-how and experience

More than ever, we are navigating an increasingly complex process of approvals, compliance requirements and building and planning regulations.

In this environment, experience matters.

We do not take the regulatory environment for granted because we know what is at stake. Our ability to avoid issues and deal with problems in a way that does not compromise your interests is embedded in our approach.
