Balancing Function, Comfort, and Character
The brief called for a space that could store, work, and live in equal measure. On the ground floor, we integrated generous storage for tools, sports gear, and accessories, alongside a workbench and a carport for two vehicles. Exposed raw materials and industrial finishes set a robust, practical tone.
A timber-panelled staircase leads to the upper level, where the mood shifts to warmth and welcome. Custom cabinetry, rich timber detailing, and carefully placed windows frame views of the coastal landscape. The layout offers flexibility—spaces can be opened up for connection or closed for privacy.
Natural Materials, Contemporary Touches
To foster a relaxed atmosphere, we paired concrete and natural timber with contemporary elements such as Perspex and recycled-material carpet tiles. Internally and externally, timber linings provide a sturdy, homely character, bringing texture and warmth throughout.
Designing for Bushfire Resilience
Given the site’s sensitive, fire-prone environment, we selected timber windows and external cladding with proven bushfire performance.
The result is a seamless extension of the client’s holiday home—equally suited to work, rest, or play. A place that combines practicality and beauty, crafted to endure and to welcome.
