Connection of Informal Interior & Exterior Living Spaces.

A Serene Inner-City Retreat Embracing Heritage & Modern Living.
Designed for a busy modern family, this inner city Melbourne project reflects our clients’ style and their love of Spanish Mission architecture and style for hand crafted and natural materials. A thoughtful blend of refurbishment and renovation, it was conceived to create a seamless connection between old and new—celebrating warm, earthy materials such as terracotta tiles, decorative tiling, brickwork, and rendered walls.

Our design approach was guided by a respectful appreciation of the original heritage building. The new addition was imagined as a companion structure—modern and restrained, with a gentle nod to the architecture of the past. As with all our work, the goal was to bring the various parts of the project into a cohesive and unified whole.

Internally, the spaces connect harmoniously, drawing together existing and contemporary elements. Warmth and natural light flow throughout, linking the interiors to the established garden and pool area. The result is a generous, private home offering relaxed comfort and a sense of ease—designed to enrich daily life and foster a genuine feeling of home.

Joyful and full of surprises, the house offers luxurious moments both intimate and shared—whether enjoyed alone, with family, or with friends. It has the feel of a resort, where inside and outside connect effortlessly in a place that’s sunny, sheltered, and serene. This project beautifully blends heritage and modern living to create a warm, inviting home. It honours the past while providing a serene, comfortable space that enriches everyday family life.
