What ISO 9001 Means for Our Practice

Since 2018, we successfully completed the Stage 2 Audit of our practice to achieve ISO-9001 accreditation. It’s important to note that we haven’t changed how we deliver architectural services. Instead, we’ve fine-tuned an existing system to make it clearer and more comprehensive. I’m proud of what we’ve created — it’s not a complex web of manuals and checklists, but rather a streamlined, efficient system. In fact, the auditor even commented on how simple and effective our approach is. At its core, our system is essentially a tailored “Things to Do” list that is regularly updated to suit each individual project and client. This approach helps us anticipate potential issues before they become problems and ensures we learn from any mistakes, preventing them from happening again. Our focus is on key factors like client satisfaction, staying within budget, and continually enhancing the capabilities of our architecture team. This method also strengthens our design process, making it more transparent, flexible, and resilient. As a small practice with a team of just three employees, we juggle multiple projects across various sectors and stages simultaneously. Achieving ISO-9001 doesn’t mean our services will be more expensive or that clients will notice significant changes in how we work. It simply means that the planning and execution of our services will be more efficient, helping us deliver even better results for our clients.
