This house is a fairly typical double-fronted late Victorian family home in North Fitzroy. The existing rooms are relatively small and as
is often the case the bathroom is inadequate for a family. And it is typical in these kinds of renovation projects for the bathroom to be squeezed to maximise the available living room spaces. We tried to design a bathroom that reflected the grace and charm of the Victorian house, but to do so in a modern and contemporary fashion. The bathroom re-uses one of the principal rooms and remodels it into a simple spare room with few details to distract the eye. The large round window draws light in from the south side of the building and imbues the room with a soft glow that fills the room and adjacent passageway. The free standing bath is centered on the window to create a place to relax and enjoy.
