The apartment was built about 10 years ago and is part of a complex of 11. The clients enjoyed the central location, and the sense of community in the complex, but the layout was awkward, poorly constructed and nondescript. We wanted to refurbish the spaces to create a stimulating environment. The apartment has a small footprint and is connected over 3 levels. Bold colours were used under the stairs to create a connection between the levels. The stairwell is a playful and changing element that takes on different aspects during the day.
In re-organising the main internal spaces, the overall quality, functionality and comfort of each of the spaces was carefully considered – such that the detail embodies a sense of creativity that energises the house.
